AMD / Intel and graphics processing

...And this is exactly why I posed the question (apparently based on faulty information) in the first place.

My goal is to build a system that has the performance (with headroom) to handle PS, but also do it cost effectively. I do agree that in general, apples to apples Intel is more expensive than AMD, but for me it really depends on the final ability to do the job....as I noted earlier the two cpu's I had considered are the i7-3770  and FX-8120, though I am not clear on if this is apples-to-apples.
