Should I upgrade
Oct 21, 2012

Hi All,

I currently use D300, 18-200VR, Adobe LR4

I shoot mainly vacations, kids.

This is my 2nd 18-200VR, first one was dropped and now the 2nd one is falling apart, feels loose and the rubber zoom ring is ready to die.

I am considering an upgrade but not sure what to do.  What I want is something light for vacations and yet still excellent quality.

I am considering the D7000 with the 18-200VR but have many questions, can someone help?

1.  Since the D7000 was introduced in 2010, will a new model come out soon?

2.  I find the D300 settings a pain to use, ie. A, S, ISO, etc..., I guess the D7000 will be much easier?

3.  Are there many photo quality differences between the D300 & D7000?

4.  Is the D7000 auto focus faster than the D300?  I find the D300 a bit slow at times.

5.  How about the D600 with the 28-300?  Will it be too heavy compared to the current D300 or the D7000 set up?  Is the D600, 28-300VR that much better than the D300 or D7000, 18-200VR?

Thanks in advance for any help!
