70-210 AF versus 70-210 AFD

I recently read Ken Rockwell (I know I know he's not popular around here) on the 70-210 and he recommended the D model as it has fast AF.

I bought one off ebay but the lens that was sent to me was not the D model as advertised but the AF model.

I checked it out more today wondering if I should accept the sellers offer of a full refund and get the D model which is available on ebay for perhaps $20 more.

The AF is relatively fast (ok not as fast as my 24-70 F2.8 but its acceptable to me). At 210 the images seem quite sharp and overall a nice lens but probably lacks a bit of sharpness (I am used to primes now so perhaps I am spoiled by that).

Has anyone had experience with both and is the D model worth it? A good copy of the lens even not the D model makes me wonder if its worth the swap.

Greg.
