24-70mm zooming noise
Oct 21, 2012

Hi all,

I know this is a lens question, but it appears that more people read this particular forum index, so I thought I would post here in the hope of getting some feedback.

I recently bought a D800 and last week got a 24-70mm 2.8 lens. I've noticed that when zooming, there is a noise, and perhaps a slight 'grinding' sensation. This certainly doesn't appear to be as bad as other cases that i've read about - but it's certainly different from all other lenses that I have which are very smooth and essentially silent.

Some people have suggested it's normal, while others have speculated that it's faulty.

Anyway, i've made a very short video of the zoom sound. I'd be very appreciative if people could have a quick listen and let me know if it sounds normal.

Many thanks.
