Yes, I do think the road signs are distracting.

I'd also like to see the same scene in more flattering light i.e. around sunrise/sunset.

i agree with you, the  mountain is at about 10,300 feet and is  on a highway which is closed to traffic from December 1 to  june Something.  the shot is taken from down in the valley looking straight north and was taken at 530 PM on September 9th.I tried several days ago to figure out in Photographers ephemeris  a better time of year and time .  I would prefer later afternoon but the valley is shaded soon after I took this shot from higher mountains on the left ie west....the peaks on the right would still be quite flat because they face more west..  I think the mountain folding would be even more dramatic with more shadows. I tried to use the extra pin in TPE but can not seem to get it right.  Maybe you can manipulate it and get a better answer.
