He as a D600, not a D800.
Sumicron, if the 24-70 is out of your budget and you don't want to hang a kit lens on your camera, try out the 16-85 with variable aperture:

Your link goes to the DX optimized 16-85 VR. I have that lens for D80 (& like it alot) but wonder if it will work without serious vignetting in FX since it is a 3.5/4.5? Have you used it on a D600? Would love to be able to do this in FX (I HAVE done so in DX mode and been pleased with the results).
