I have already offered my advice earlier in the thread. However, I agree with this statement. The heaviest NEX lens so far is ~600 grams. This should be JUST ABOUT as safe as it gets if you plan to horizontally put your NEX on a tripod with a lens, without attaching the lens collar tripod mount.
