- How did you find the focus point coverage? This is exactly the kind of situation that concerns me but you first shot has the bird in almost the same place I'd like to have put it.
I centered the birds and then cropped, so didn't really try out the different focus points. The wind was so strong that I couldn't hold the camera steady, so I went for single point in the centre - missed lots of shots, but not down to the D600
- Also, how much did you honestly miss the reach?
Quite noticeable. The 180mm is a nice focal length in it's own right. . . but would love a 300mm f4 with 1.4TC permanently attached. I have just spent a lot of money so that will have to wait. Images so unbelievably sharp that cropping is no issue.
Oh and to the poster who asked about t/c's - the kenko 1.4 works pretty well.
