You can see a comparsion looking at the D7000 x D3000 samples here at DPR, both jpegs and raws.

I have had D80 and D7000. I'd say the difference is about 1.5-2 stop in high ISO (D7000 at 3200 is close to D80 at 800-1000 ISO, in RAW). The bigger difference is in base ISO DR, about 2EV or more, again in RAW.
