85 1.4 vs 24 1.4 vs your suggestion

I see your point but the response a bit too sarcastic.  I see both your points actually.

To the OP I think the solution is to get the 24/1.4 and add just a bit more out of pocket and get the 85/1.8G.   The 24/1.4 simply does not have a 'cheap and maybe as good alternative' that the 85/1.4G has.  I have the 24/1.4G, 35/1.4G, 85/1.8G and this trinity is my most used combo on the D800e.  The 24-70G is good but not a match for the above trio.  I can see the IQ difference on a large quality monitor.
