That's what I did (sold my D7K, 16-85MM VR is still for sale on Ebay) and bought 50mm 1.8G to go along with kit lens. Although it's a kit lens, IMO, it has fast AF, great IQ and is very light. Definitely cheaper than the 24-70 2.8 which costs 3X as much.

I also have Siggy 70-200 2.8 OS DG HSM and its superb on this camera.
