Eeyor Says: Stick with your s90, for now
In reply to Veebenstein, Oct 17, 2012

The s90 is a fine compact.  Your baby isn't ready for toddler antics that might eventually require something with a bit faster shutter speed in low light.

Money you spend on an expensive system camera now is money you won't have for a downpayment on an education savings plan or other future capital requirement.  An expensive camera won't make the baby pix any more artsy.  Years from now, junior may complain that you shot too many pictures of a snoozing infant and not enough of the parents (wow, you were young back then!).  No matter what camera you use, much of the charm comes from the composition of the shots and the inclusion of artifacts or places that may latter conjure rememberances or nostalgia.  Think of that guy who wrote stories for his son based on his stuffed animals!  Do we care whether he wrote them using a steel pen or a typewriter?  Would they have been better if written on parchment instead of cheap stationary?
