A Southerm France moment.

Out of Nice, France there's a small, almost model-like railway that runs up through the valleys sculpted by the Var river in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence all the way up to Digne-Les-Bains .

It's called "Les Train des Pignes": http://www.beyond.fr/travel/railpignes.html

There are several ancient and picturesque villages along the line, some with quite a medieval touch to them.

Last May, while in the South of France for the F1 GP, my wife and I decided to hop along for a short version of the trip up to Annot and back, with a stopover at Entrevaux.

In spite of the intermittent rain, we had an excellent couple of hours in Entrevaux, a village where the main pedestrian access is still made over an ancient, ancient bridge over the Var, leading to a typical medieval gate entrance sided by two turrets.

We enjoyed a leisure walk along the village, having had the chance of, while sitting in a bench in the main square, having the attendants of a just finished town-hall meeting exiting the building and, while making small circles a couple of meters away from us, discussing the proceeding's incidences.

My wife and I smiled at each other while unavoidably eavesdropping the ongoing conversations that cast quite some insights about the inner social works of a small community.

Later on, walk resumed, being around tea-time and menaced by the imminence of a downpour, we headed for a "créperie " following some posted signs.

Just arriving there, this family of 3 exited the premises, just as I was trying the take a photo of the beautiful late afternoon scene. Immediately playing along, they posed for the photograph in a spontaneous moment that couldn't be more welcomed.

I think it turned out quite nice.

I named the photo "The Crépiest Place on Earth"
