This is certainly user error. It doesn't make a lot of sense to shoot at such a wide open aperture when you're shooting 10 people. A larger aperture like f/3.2 will give you shallower depth of field. That with the possibility that you are not focusing correctly is probably the issue.

If you're shooting so many subjects, you're not that skilled at selective focusing, and you want to see sharpness, then you should should shoot with smaller aperture....which would be a higher f/stop number (f/11, f/16, f/22, etc.). Bunches of megapixels will not get you sharp photographs. The pixels don't operate the camera and make decisions. You do.
