Broke my tripod today.

Yes I was shooting a low angle shot over water, and well I lost my balance and used my tripod to catch myself from landing in the water, the leg catch broke, so it won't stay in any position, sort of "flops" back and forth.

I'm going to be looking for a new one? but which one. This is my lightweight Bogen 3001,I have had it for 21 years. I really want to replace with a Gitzo carbon fiber, the heaviest lens I now own is my Nikon 300f4, with either my D700 no grip, or D200 with grip.

I think about a capacity of 10 lbs is enough, I have no plans to obtain a heavier  lens than what I now have, maybe a Sigma 150 500 but thats dreaming.

Can you all suggest a Gitzo? or a Monfrotto former Bogen?

Thanks
