Skin tone color correction without a white point? (PS/ACR)
Oct 16, 2012

I just took a bunch of pictures in a fall setting, it was overcast around 5 o'clock but there were yellow and orange leaves everywhere. This made it very difficult to do color correction on the skin tones which got a strong orange cast to them. Unfortunately I had no white point to easily set the white balance. My monitor is not perfect or calibrated and my eyes play tricks on me a lot,

My question is... is there a way to calibrate skin tones 'by instruments' only? Some rules, tricks, guides whereby I can look at numbers and spectra to correct it? I read an article that once said that all skin tones generally fall along a certain line, but I cannot remember details. Thank you. I have PS CS6 and use Adobe Camera Raw to do most of my edits.
