Budget inkjet for black and white

I have spent the last 2 days printing B&W with the Zone 8 method on my new Epson Artisan 730

(us $130.00) .

The tonal quality is great but I get horizontal lines in the prints. According to Epson its because I am  using Photo paper with plain paper settings. ( Of Course)

So, I dont know what to do.
