I think the compact camera manufacturers are all in a panic over the quality of the cameras in smart phones and tablets. I expected something good from Panasonic after the LX5 such as an LX7 with, for example, a 24/120 f2.8 zoom, 1" sensor and WA adapter, but no, all similar except, whoopee, they have an f1.4 lens, faster than anyone else.
They're milking this for all it's worth. They even stamp "Nano Surface Coating" on their new tin-can body to distract attention to how cheap it is. I suppose to come in at the price point they set with the new lens, it's the best they could do. I would not want a larger camera just to have a longer zoom, but I would accept a slight increase in size to get a larger sensor - at least 2/3.
