Hi, I did open a thread with the same question in a different forum.

Someone replied who just received his NEX-5R yesterday and he did some tests like using a stylus pen made of plastic to operate the touch screen - and it WORKED! while using this pen did not work on a capacitive display like on his mobile phone Motorola Milestone.

I also asked Sony customer services about 10 days ago whether the NEX-5R uses a resistive or a capacitive display. I have not received any answer up until today, despite me reminding them.
