The only time I had overexposed pictures was when I forgot I left it on spot metering and then tried took pictures of a scene with a dark center shadow. The rest of the shot was blown. Unfortunately, I was taking shots in bright sunlight, facing south, in a strong wind (trying to hold onto my hat and my camera) and in a hurry, and couldn't really see the screen well enough to realize what was happening (truly "point and shoot"). Otherwise, I've found the exposures to be quite reasonable.
