Manual exposure in video mode won't work...

Ok, so first off I'm not a beginner, I've made a living on photo work for seven years, I bought this 2 months ago as a little pocket thing for catching behind the scenes stuff with my company models. It replaces an NEX-5n. So, basic stuff here, when you're in manual exposure mode and hit video, everything I can find says you get MANUAL control of settings... I don't get this AT ALL. I can dial in ISO, but everything else is acting like it's on program mode as soon as I press the video mode, and when I cycle the displays it says "P" beside the little film icon in the top corner... Anybody have any clue what this could be? It works perfectly for manual exposure in stills, but I bought it for the pocket video machine, it's driving me crazy, I work with big Kino Flo video lighting everywhere, which throws exposure off wildly, and the footage isn't even useful as an outtakes reel. If anybody knows what the problem could be I'd love to hear it
Many many thanks!
