I too have a D200 that still sees regular use. I also have A d7000, I'm a two body shooter. I use my cameras on black rapid straps and really don't mind the D200 and the 80-200 2r that way. I would like to see Nikon bring full "metal jacket" to the D7000 body, an 8 FPS frame rate with at least a 5 second 14 bit buffer, and 1080P 60 FPS (remembers lots of wedding photographers and wildlife folks want a D400) and perhaps a HDMI 2k/4K option.

Nikon sold every D7000 they could produce for $1200 for over a year, The D200/300's were sold at about $1800. A killer $1500 camera with say 24 or yes, 32 meg sensors and the above specs would keep me from seriously rethinking say a Gh3 or a m4/3 outifit. I bought an inexpensive m4/3 outfit to try my Nikkor glass - which is the reason I use a Nikon body. Olympus has pretty good stuff, but I still don't see the same image quality from their prosumer glass (their pro stuff at +$2K is very good).

In the end I just might go D800 for my next Nikon camera as by the time I have the cash in the middle of next year good used ones will be in the $2300-$2400 range.  I'm not about to sell my FX nikon glass right now because I love they way the render, and my D stuff with aperature rings are perfect for video. The only lens I have that won't make the cut is the 12-24 as its a "G".

I found m4/3 too small and Olympus video is not at the level I want it, Panasonic with the Gh3 is going to raise the bar, as should be the 800/600 at HDMI when used with a field recorder. But 60 FPS is going to be the new standard for documenary work as is 2k/4k. I hope 400 raises that bar, and at anything less than $1800 I'm in. In the mean time my D200/D7000 still take great images (Of course I'm retired now and no longer using my cameras in business and that could make a difference but I don't think so).
