Re: Why use a leather "half case"???

I have a leather half case on my X100 and Xpro 1 used with a wrist strap. I have dropped my X100 twice on the road and on stone stairs and it survived without any damage. It makes the camera easier to hold though some of the buttons become fiddly to access. You dont have to be too careful when placing it down somewhere abrasive and deals with casual bumps very well. Better get one of the cheaper functional cases like the Zhou cases from Ebay at around $70. Nicely padded on the bottom where it will likely take the first big impact if dropped. Very well made and fitted but not as ornamental as some of the overpriced fashion statement types that cost a lot of money. Weigh is insignificant. I swear by them.
