Thanks very much for the reply.....my current thinking after some thought-provoking posts is to purchase a rebuilt Dell 8500, and add a SSD, as I am already comfortable with W7. I previously thought it would be more cost effective to build my own again....clearly things have changed.

Your comment about the instability of CS6 on either platform was concerning. I wonder since the only two components I would use would be bridge and Photoshop perhaps it makes sense to buy CS5? I am not sure about LR...
