Canon Powershot G15 - Video Button

I was testing the Canon G15 the other day, and I noticed that the "video button" is still very close to the thumb grip on the back of the camera (although not as raised as on the G12). And while it is "safer" now to handle the camera horizontally, most of the accidental video shooting starts while holding the camera vertically.

My question: is there any way to disable the video mode in order to grab the camera (when it's on) without worrying about the video button...?
