In reply to Yves P., Oct 15, 2012

I recently bought a D600 and was debating to get the Nikon 24-120 F4, or the Tamron 24-70 F2.8.  My main uses are for photographing my 4 and 7 year old kids, and my Airedale Terrier (all typically fast moving objects).  I love my 50mm F1.4 and the beautiful bokeh it produces, but found that I really needed a lens with a good range.  I also needed a lens that could work well in low lighting.

I gave up on the Tamron after reading about the various QC issues, the onion rings bokeh, the F2.8 - F4 problem, and weaker resale value.

While the nikon 24-120 does have it's own limitations, I only decided to buy it after viewing numerous sample pics on flickr showing the acceptable F4 bokeh, especially at the 120mm range.
