Advice on 24-120 f/4

I am considering purchasing a 24-120 f/4 VR but the reviews seem to be somewhat mixed. Photozone.de only gives it 2 1/2 stars but Nasim Mansurov seems to really like. It has a very attractive zoom range for my needs and I am really missing a mid range zoom with VR since switching to full frame. Has anyone used this lens on a D600 or D800 and what is your experience with it.
