The 24-70mm at 24mm is producing an image = to a fol of 38.4mm. DoF of the 15mm = to a 24mm fov is naturally greater and will appear sharper. If you look at the background in your images you can see the angular differences of those two lenses. In a nutshell, set your 15-85mm to 24mm.
OK, I'll do as you suggest. Although do you really think that going from 15mm to 24mm will degrade the sharpness of my 15-85 that much?
The other thing is that as I zoom from 15mm towards 24mm, the max permissible aperture will change so instead of f3.5 I might find it changes to f4, say. This means I will also need to repeat the shoot with the 24-70 to f4 as well. All of which might take a me a few days, as I'll need to borrow my friend's 24-70II again.
Will be back when I can do it.
