Will the X-E1's EVF be useless in perfectly sunny conditions?

I've been using only the X100 for over a year now and absolutely love it, though I find myself depending on the OVF in clear sunny conditions as I found at an airshow today.  When using the EVF i can't discern anything.  I'm not sure if that's a result of transition lenses or what, but it's utterly useless.  I have the X-E1 on pre-order and am eagerly awaiting it but a little worried.  For those who have experience with it or the Nex 7 (which I believe also shares the same EVF) how is it during perfect bright conditions?  I tried searching but continually receive an error, not sure if it's the new layout and dpreview is still sussing out some coding issues.
