I've re-tested, looked back at some of the tests I did earlier pre-D800 repair, as well as images taken with this lens. My conclusion is that this problem existed before, but I didn't notice it. I found an image taken pre-D800 repair, at 70mm, AF tune @ +20, using LensAlign , and it clearly shows the +20 did correct the front focus. I probably didn't look closely enough, since I hardly shoot below 135 on this lens.
I mostly out near 200mm, so I probably never noticed this before. I don't have alot of images below 100mm to look at, and almost all that I have are above f5.6. I found a few at f2.8, and none processed ... I think I just passed them off as poor shots OOF.
There is definitely a 16 - 17 click variation between 70 and 200mm today, and that needs to be adjusted.
At 200mm, a +20 pre-D800 repair, and 0 now, makes sense. My 24-70 also went from +12 to between 0 and +2.
