Mac or PC

I have been a PC user for many years, and have to upgrade. My question revolves around this: since I have to obtain new hardware and do not currently have any of the more expensive software products (Photoshop) is there any real advantage to switching to the mac platform for my photographic hobby?

I recently bought a robust DSLR and plan on establishing a post processing protocol as well as printing when warranted. I am not interested in video.
