Thank you for your responses. I was thinking it could be sun but what really threw me off was the fact that this ghosting effect was so concentrated and intense. I thought it would be more flarred.
In any case, I am really glad it's not my camera!
Btw, I don't use filters on my lenses. My focusing technique is weak and putting anything in front of my lenses would just expose my flaws even more. That is in part why I bought E version of D800
