Somewhat bewildering artifacts with the SD1M
Oct 13, 2012

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me with a question.

I've noticed that for longer exposures the SD1M appears to be more susceptible to some kind of artifact on the horizon which manifests as multiple small ?lens flares in that area.  I've checked the sensor and lenses multiple times for dust and I'm quite certain that dust is not the problem.

Here are some examples from yesterday:  All three were taken with a tripod mounted SD1M with a Hoya polariser.  The first two shots, taken at f/22 1/5s and f/4 1/6s do not show the problem, however, a few minutes later, at f/22 10s the problem becomes all too apparent (and even worse in the subsequent shots.

Thanks for your help!
