which m4/3 body to complement a D800/E ?
Oct 12, 2012

Hopefully I am not asking in the wrong forum!

Need a smaller, lightweight body for decent video AF and walk around. The never ending wait for a Nikon AF-S 80-400 pushed me to look at the very decent Panasonic 100-300mm (200-600 35mm equiv) instead, used it once on a GH2 and I was very impressed.

The GH3 would be ideal but is a bit beyond my monetary/weight budget unfortunately. I rather GH3 remain the same weight and price as the GH2.

Among the Oly OM-D, Panasonic G5 and GH2, which one would be a better bet?

OM-D is likely better for high fps shooting. G5 has 1080/60p video (but no manual control), while GH2 is still the best video mirrorless/DSLR aside from the GH3. The recent GH2 price drop plus the lens instant rebates makes it very attractive. Too bad it doesn't do 60p! I prefer 1080/60p to 30p even for home/vacation video as it is so much more fluid and life like.

Anyone facing the same dilemma? Thanks.
