Lens for D600

I am going to buy D600 and wanted to get some advice on lens. I photograph for a hobby and family occasions and travel a lot. I was thinking to get 28-300mm or 70-300mm. I like to be able to have one lens when traveling without having to change. I do have a wide angle (12-24). I also like to get the tele converter 2x for wild life. I like to know if users have experience a tele with either of these lenses and if one is better than the other and why?
