Help! - Too much blue in mountain pics

I am taking a lot of mountain pictures, but if they are shots into long or longer distance, they have too much in it.  I understand that is is coming from light reflections in the atmosphere - please correct if I am wrong. I have also read somewhere (forgot where), that you can counter act that by using an orange filter when shooting.

To better make my point I have attached two pictures:

1. Original shot

2. tweaked with Canon's DPP to try to get the blue out - still not impresses.

Can anybody help? I would like to know if a filter would help or what other suggestions you have. I prefer to get it right while shooting and not later by spending my spare time in front of the computer - Thanks!
