It's because there are specific categories for images in the forums. Unfortunately dpreview uses one of the most confusing forum setup I have ever seen so it is seldom used by newcomers.
Having a threaded view by default means that I see seveal duplicate posts in consecuive fashion since I use flat view.
Also, I'm tired of the forum as an internet thing. I like the idea of the up and down votes since it makes this more like Reddit.
