Why not push the mirror as close to the mount as possible with the mirror pointing down. The sensor would be near the base plate and the extra height would mean an integrated vertical grip. The extra depth of the vertical grip gives room for shutter and IBIS mechanisms. And the reversed orientation of the mirror leaves room for the EVF & flash electronics.
