Completely agree. If I am not a sole owner of a book, CD or DVD and can not do with this as I please (burn it, scratch it, sell it) then let it be known to me up front and let the "real" owners establish the network of rental shops and charge for rent accordingly.

In my opinion that such a discussion even takes place in the court of law says a lot about the quality of the law itself and the "I deserve it no matter what" attitude of those that produce and hold intellectual property rights.
