Don't know if anyone here uses Apple Aperture for managing the photo workflow, but it has this exact feature built in. I always leave my camera set to my home timezone and then in Aperture I just select all the photos, go to Edit Metadata and then there is a 'Timezone' section with two pull down menus, 1st for camera timezone, 2nd for actual timezone. Aperture does the rest Works really well.
