The man with the minus club

These karma systems have ruined many a forum. The issues are two-fold in my opinion:

1) people vote based on if they like the poster, not whether the post is informative

2) people vote based on if they like what the poster is saying, not whether the post is informative

It all becomes a popularity contest rather than a tool for discerning valuable posts.
