I had the same experience. Got a like new open box one for $800 and was also blown away by the optics. I had focus issues with it so I had to send it back. I than got the 55-300. While it is a good lens you really cant compare the IQ you get with it to the 50-135. Not in the same league. I wish Pentax would make a new version of the 50-135!
