Jim, I'm not a Pentax shooter, and don't frequent Pentax forums - I haven't heard about those problems before - are they meant to be K5 issues specifically, or Pentax generally? Most of the time, the only negatives I read about choosing Pentax DSLRs is that the range of lenses available is smaller than Canon or Nikon (which is probably not a problem for a beginner, anyway).
