sRGB or ADOBE
The different profile may cause the image to appear with more contrast on your monitor, which would appear sharper. It's hard to tell exactly what's going on. Two things to try:
1. Post the samples here for comments
2. Shoot in raw, and convert in-camera to sRGB and to Adobe RGB; compare the difference.
Remember, Adobe RGB isn't a special "make it better" button. (In fact, unless you have a fully color-calibrated setup and know what you're doing, it's likely that it's making things worse for you.)
