Whilst I understand your approach Roland - if SPP is so flaky - how come the majority of us have never - like ever - had any such problems.  On the basis that SPP is at fault - how can you explain it only has problems for a few?

I has been repeated many times over the years that limiting the number of files in any one folder is the right way to work.  By limiting how many RAW files are in any one folder ensures that the fastest speed is seen and experienced with SPP (and many other programmes too) so perhaps those having problems have large numbers of files in any one folder - meaning they have not checked the advice given in this forum or for that matter - general advice working with files, whatever their type?   Now that could explain why a few get problems, especially if their computer specs are somewhat on the low side.
