The iPad can also do this all (except for having a built-in slot and not an external converter) - you "only" need to jailbreak it. See the above article ( http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/tutorial-how-you-can-use-your-memory-card-appstore-apps-external-ipad-storage-memory ) on the secrets of mapping the storage card to even AppStore apps like RAW viewers and the like.
