What is the logic of different card slots?

Since I also have a D200 (CF only) and a P7100 (SD only) it's nice that my D300s will use both. I don't buy CFs any more, but there's no reason to throw them out!

I'm also of the school of thought that it's better to have a bunch of smaller cards than to bet everything on a single large one, so it doesn't bother me that the CF cards are all 2 or 4 GB.
