Railroad right-of-ways are private property and you are tresspassing unless you have permission.  You will not get permission, except possibly from a shortline. Even that is questionable.  The major railroads will likely send the Special Agent, and you could be arrested and/or fined.

That's not the worst thing that can happen. You and your subjects can be killed by the train.  Depending on where you are, speeds can reach over 100 mph in the northeat corridor or 79 mph on the surf ine in CA.   Trains can't stop quickly.   But, it won't hurt at all, you'll be dead before you hit the ground.   Dont do it.  Buy a muslin hang up.
