New SDM repair?

I recently sent my 16-50 in for SDM repair.  It was at the service center when the news about the possible "new SDM fix" broke from Photokina, and the repairs were done near the end of the month.  I received the lens back yesterday.  Here are the results; how does this compare to anyone else's experience?

The repairs performed were replacement of the SDM motor and the PCB/FCB.  Is this the typical repair for SDM issues?

The fixed lens seems to focus faster than it did before, but it makes a small amount of noise.  It sounds like a soft electronic beep, but I think it is actually a squeak from the motor moving the lens quite a bit faster than before.  I think this occurs when it starts, stops or reverses the motor.

Is my experience typical?
