My Amazon.com P7700 Review

Hi Proshooter (I am an Aussie too!)

I picked my P7700 up on Friday last week - a couple trickled in to Teds Adelaide on Thursday when other shops could not even give me a price.

It's been a while since I used a small sensor compact but I posted very early thoughts here -

I can answer your filter question - Yes, I bought a 40.5 with mine and leave it the camera the bag with just the filter and no lens cap. Saves a bit of time.

Oh - off camera flash:

You don't need a Nikon speedlite, but you do need more than a standard hot shoe -pc connector. It needs to be a Nikon one (I think - I'll know when it arrives!)

My normal hot-shoe-pc connector that I use on the D700 and and X100 does not work, so I've ordered a Nikon (clone) one from ebay

SB400 works TTL in the hot shoe fine.
